Primetime!

by James on June 26, 2010

How does one normally feel the night before the big dance? How does one suppress the emotional avalanche bound to come the moment someone yells “action?” Yeah, one can do all the preparation necessary to hit the stage and perform like a star, but nothing is real until you’re actually on that stage and the lights are shining on you.

And that time is finally here.

Here I sit on the couch in a hotel suite (free upgrade!), forced to watch the show “Glee” in my Fruit-of-the-Looms, clothes on just about every cushiony piece of furniture, shopping bags all over the floor–like piles of pure madness at my feet. Still, the real madness is within me. Nerves. Fear. Some doubt. Excitement.

You see, TPC3 makes its grand debut tomorrow…well…considering it’s after midnight on the East Coast…today. I will stand behind a skirted table, all GQ’d out in a blazer and nice jeans, wearing a Kool-Aid smile, pitching our book SELLOUT to customers for the first time. For years, I attended writers conferences watching authors talk about their “babies,” and wondered what it would be like to stand behind a table with my own book. Well, as TPC’s debut author, I’m about to find out.

It’s primetime, baby!
