Shoot, I Need A Vacation, Too!

Steph ain’t the only one out of gas. My tank is nearly on “E,” too. Damn near running on fumes right now and I need a fill up on Premium.

Steph has done her job on SELLOUT; now, it’s my turn. But I wear other hats, too. I’m not only a full-time college student, I work at a veteran’s assistance center, stroke center and “daylight” as an assistant personal trainer at a local university. Granted, I volunteer at the stroke center and work as an unpaid personal trainer understudy, but they coincide with my intended major in Kinesiology. I’m also one of those go-getters, pouncing on every opportunity, sometimes over-committing myself. But I made my obligations, so I’m following through with all of them. Blame it on the military upbringing. We don’t stop until we complete the mission.

That means I’m always on the fly, flames under my shoes as I skyrocket out the door to my next “duty station.” Unfortunately, I also have a manuscript to rewrite, so I have to get it in when I can fit it in. That usually entails me burning the midnight oil, first doing homework, then manuscript rewrites. Steph has done such a great job I’ve agreed with most of her edits. But checking word-by-word, line-by-time takes time, and now I’m under the gun, my deadline for complete rewrites set for 3/22/10.

Cool thing Steph and I had a nice system in place. As she finished edits on several chapters, she’d send them to me for rewrites. So we always were working on the manuscript at the same time, with me a couple of chapters behind. She’s done and now I’m on Chapter 25. Got five more to go.

But that’s just rewrites based on Steph’s content edits. That doesn’t include more character development, which my partners feel I should incorporate. They showed me ways on how to flesh out a few characters–and I agree with them–so that includes more midnight oil to burn.

That’s all right, though. I drink from the same Kool-Aid as Steph and Omar, and we know how to “keep keep keepin’ ” on. That’s the hustler way, so let the hustlers play.

Recently I got word my new author website will be completed very soon, hopefully around the same time as my edits. Not only that, I took new photo shoots for the website today (Friday). So, it’s all falling into the place, the bricks piling up. And TPC is the mortar that holds it all together.

You know what? Enough of this. I have to get back to work. BWRC is right around the corner and this manuscript still needs a spit shine, so let me get to polishin’.
